This project reimagines the exit experience at RP’s ESG Centre as a moment of reflection. Visitors explore a live sustainability dashboard, discover their eco-mascot through a personality quiz, and make a personal pledge. Their framed photo becomes a leaf on a digital community tree, visualising a collective impact.
One important thing I learned was the value of active listening and teamwork. By paying closer attention to my teammates’ ideas and needs, I became more aware of how communication affects the quality of our work. This helped me grow into a more patient and collaborative designer.
Plus, I also learned to be more adaptable when working with unfamiliar tools. Although the technical requirements felt overwhelming at first, I pushed myself to learn new software such as Blender. This experience increased my confidence in handling challenges outside of my comfort zone.
Lastly, I learned how to apply creativity in a more meaningful way by designing with RP’s values in mind. Instead of focusing only on aesthetics, I considered how the digital tree could represent sustainability and community. This changed how I view design as something that should communicate purpose, and not just look appealing.
One key contribution I made was developing the 3D digital tree using Blender. I independently learned basic sculpting, modelling, and animation techniques to support the project’s visual concept. Due to technical limitations, I explored alternative methods and used Gemini AI to create a simple swaying animation. This allowed the team to achieve visual movement within our technical capabilities. I also regularly updated the team and sought feedback from classmates and lecturers to refine the tree’s form and realism.
Another contribution I made was applying critical thinking during competitor analysis and ideation. I examined existing interactive sustainability installations and digital pledge walls to identify gaps and insights which guided our mind map to focus on emotional engagement at the centre's exit. This strengthened our concept direction and ensured that our design addressed a real user needs.
The third contribution I made was leading the usability testing process. I helped plan the test flow by drafting the moderator script and designing usability questions to evaluate clarity, engagement, and navigation. I also conducted and facilitated testing sessions, allowing the team to gather meaningful user feedback. The findings guided improvements to our user flo, helping to make the experience more intuitive and user-friendly.
